In this part of the series, we chat to John Dawe, Strategic Partnerships Director for Delegated at Intact Insurance. John talks to us about how him and his team are using their specialised expertise to offer tailored solutions to our brokers, and why taking the time to really understand their needs goes hand in hand with customers becoming our advocates.
My role, and the purpose of my team, is to ensure that Intact Insurance delivers our proposition promises to our Scheme brokers and Managing General Agent’s, so that in partnership we can provide a second to none experience for customers.
The magic of delegated schemes occurs when a broker identifies and can access a group of customers who have specific insurance needs - this could be anyone from caravan owners to dentists or charities. We work with these brokers to create a specific product with policy coverage that specifically meets their needs. We then allow brokers to sell that policy on our behalf to those customers, which is where the delegation comes in.
We’re a purpose-built team of experts that understand what it takes to create a great scheme and ensure that it delivers its full potential. The fact that we are dedicated to schemes, means that we get to build deep connections with our customers, meeting with them to listen and understand the problems that they need solving through insurance. Our scheme experts in underwriting, pricing, compliance and claims are all positioned to immerse ourselves in the world of the customers, and in turn help brokers shape, grow and run these standout schemes.
We believe that delivering a second to none experience is the differentiator that allows us to win new schemes while retaining our most successful ones. We provide our brokers with a clearly defined task force of experts, who align with the broker on how we can wrap ourselves around their business. That allows us to be responsive to their needs, reduce friction and delays in process, and ensure that they can focus on trading.

We’re now well positioned to grow, and our ambition is to work closely with our regional sales teams to partner with brokers for long term success. We also want to continue expanding our appetite and grow our scheme footprint by backing partners with specialist distribution, new sector plays or data-led pricing models.
